The Cannes Film Festival 2024: Women's Style Round-up
Share
This year's Cannes Film Festival ran from the 14th to the 25th of May 2024. It was the 77th time the annual event took place, which acts as a competition and celebrates and screens the premieres of the best in international films. Greta Gerwig, recently of Barbie fame, was jury president for the main competition. French actress Camille Cottin, known in the UK for her roles in series such as Killing Eve and Brassic, hosted the opening and closing ceremonies. The Second Act, a French comedy film directed by Quentin Dupieux, opened the festival.
The numerous red-carpet events paved the way for two weeks of fabulous celebrity style. With so many looks to choose between, we've highlighted fifteen of the most eye-catching below.
Cate Blanchett
Australian actress Cate Blanchett appeared on The Apprentice red carpet in a custom Jean Paul Gaultier with a Louis Vuitton necklace of pearls and diamonds.
She attended the Rumours premier in a custom sequinned Louis Vuitton gown.
Bella Hadid
Model Bella Hadid strutted the red carpet of The Apprentice in a daring sheer dress from Saint Laurent.
She graced the red carpet of L'Amour Ouf in a vintage Atelier Versace dress from 2001.
Naomi Campbell
Model Naomi Campbell also caused waves in a vintage look, this time from Chanel, at the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga premier.
Hunter Schafer
At the Kinds of Kindness screening, actress Hunter Schafer donned a high-shine, glossy-looking Armani sleeveless gown.
Anya Taylor-Joy
The star of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Anya Taylor-Joy, looked like a princess in a custom Dior ballgown with a full tulle skirt at the premiere.
Demi Moore
Demi Moore attended the screening of her horror movie The Substance in a champagne fishtail dress by Schiaparelli. It featured an alienesque structured appendage at the strapless neckline, giving the outfit a futuristic look.
Eva Green
British actress Eva Green wore a fairy-like, otherworldly, multi-panelled Iris Van Herpen Haute Couture gown at the premiere of Kinds of Kindness.
Simone Ashley
At the closing ceremony, Bridgerton actress Simone Ashley donned a little black dress by Stella McCartney. The strapless, V-shaped bodice and skirt were thigh-length and had beautiful ruffling details, and the dress flowed back into a long, elegant train behind her.
Joey King
The Act actress Joey King also attended the closing ceremony. She donned a canary yellow custom Miu Miu column gown with a keyhole cut-out in the back, along with sheer black opera gloves (literally) dripping with crystals.
Andie MacDowell
Andie MacDowell appeared in a deep purple one-shouldered asymmetrical cape gown on the closing red carpet. The look was very "Ancient Greece" with its ruched bodice, pleated skirt, cape, and nipped-in waist.
Elle Fanning
For the closing ceremony, Elle Fanning chose a sheer floral patterned Gucci dress with a plunging neckline and an open back in a shade of buttery pastel yellow.
Viola Davis
At the closing ceremony, Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis sported a black sequinned sleeveless column gown with a white satin cape by Ami.
Michelle Yeoh
Michelle Yeoh, another Oscar-winning actress, strolled the red carpet for the Horizon: An American Saga screening in an interesting Bottega Veneta look. The strapless bodice was made of oxblood-coloured leather that flowed down into a white and oxblood, fringed, floor-length straight skirt.
