The closing stages of the famous Cannes Film Festival - or Festival de Cannes - occurred on Saturday (28th May), bringing the iconic couple of weeks to a close. We've seen many, many looks take to the red carpets to watch a variety of film premieres, and the closing days didn't disappoint with the red carpet looks once more. Here are some of our favourite showstopper looks from the ladies of the Cannes red carpet during its final days.
Irma Lake
When: 23rd May 2022 - "Crimes Of The Future" Red Carpet
Film producer and actress Irma Lake's attire of choice was a silky navy blue two-piece suit, finished with intricately designed sleeves of gold and navy embellishment surrounding the cut-out sections. The neckline was a deep V-neck style, outlined by bold silk/satin panels down the centre and finishing at the waist. From the waist outwards, the same cloth is layered underneath to contrast the more matte finish of the jacket, but still delivering depth to the look. The trousers were constructed of multiple panels too, with a sheer chiffon section falling from the centre down and flaring out on the floor-length hem. The sides were detailed with a satin side stripe for the evening attire, creating a luxurious red carpet suit.
Tina Kunakey
When: 23rd May 2022 - "Crimes Of The Future" Red Carpet
Model Tina Kunakey looked glamorous in a straight line green dress, cut in the column silhouette and designed with a graceful green fabric train on the back. The look was minimal yet statement, accessorising with long white gloves whilst a subtle hint of fabric pleating is seen across the top for a bit of texture. As sh is seen walking up the famous stairs at the Cannes Film Festival, this is where the fabric train draping from the back down really makes itself known, flaring out on the sides and showcasing the natural draping for an elegant finish.
Pascale Arbillot
When: 23rd May 2022 - "Decision To Leave (Heojil Kyolshim)" Red Carpet - The 75th Annual Cannes Film Festival
Actress Pascale Arbillot brought chic to the red carpet during Cannes wearing a black two-piece suit, styled with a bejewelled necklace underneath a low V-neck white wrap blouse. The suit jacket itself was well tailored across the shoulders, structured with shoulder pads and made with wide peak lapels. It was a single-button fastening with two flapped pockets below on a slight angle, the pocket flaps finished with an angled line themselves. The trousers were cut with a thin trouser waistband, constructed with centre creases down the front and the hem falling down to the floor, just covering her pointed toe heels.
Tang Wei
When: 23rd May 2022 - "Decision To Leave (Heojil Kyolshim)" Red Carpet - The 75th Annual Cannes Film Festival
Actress Tang Wei wore a graceful light pink and white striped gown to the film premiere at Cannes, finished with tailored shoulders and long sleeves that could be zipped up or down at the cuffs. The front of the bodice is designed with a crew neck that opens up into a V-line down the centre, finishing above the waist. Whilst the bodice is fitted, the skirt flares out through the pleating, creating fullness in the skirt and a draping fabric train that is really enhanced whilst the actress poses on the famous stairs.
Anouk Grinberg
When: 24th May 2022 - 75th Anniversary Celebration Screening Of "The Innocent (L'Innocent)" Red Carpet
Actress Anouk Grinberg sported a light cream tailored two-piece suit with a subtle pink undertone for her red carpet attire, designed with contrasting white details on the notch lapels and buttons. The shoulders are soft in keeping with the minimal effect of the suit, leading down into the buttoned cuffs and high one-button fastening on the front. The classic welt pocket sits on the chest, whilst the two flapped pockets are positioned just below the waist. The trousers are of a straight cut and finish level with the ankle, whilst the centre crease lines are quite sharp for that defined finish.
Izabel Goulart
When: 24th May 2022 - 75th Anniversary Celebration Screening Of "The Innocent (L'Innocent)" Red Carpet
Wearing red on the red carpet was model Izabel Goulart, as her outfit featured a corseted bodice with a tall front and low-cut back, leading into the statement red feather skirt on the back. A hint at the red feathered train is indicated on the front as it's worn around the waist, whilst with it, she sports a pair of crisp red tailored trousers. Th trousers are tapered to the ankle and finished with a sharp centre crease to contrast the softness of the feathers. The neckline of the bodice is slightly angled for a modern finish, creating this strong look indeed.
Letitia Wright
When: 24th May 2022 - 75th Anniversary Celebration Screening Of "The Innocent (L'Innocent)" Red Carpet
Actress Letitia Wright's red carpet look was very much a statement look, combining strong tailoring with soft draping. The dress features a black tailored jacket with a tall collar that's fastened in the centre, whilst the jacket body is fastened over to the side like a double-breasted form. The shoulders are softly tailored as the waist is fitted before flaring out with soft lines to the hem. The two flapped pockets are situated near the bottom, whilst the sleeve cuffs are asymmetric with longer on one side than the other. With a black satin/silk skirt or dress underneath, the fabric train drapes down to the floor with a split inbetween whilst showing a strong pair of contrasting textures.
Pritika Swarup
When: 26th May 2022 - "Broker (Les Bonnes Etoiles)" Red Carpet
Model and influencer Pritika Swarup wore a scalloped neckline column dress with a long black fabric cape draped around her arms for a strong fashion moment. The dress itself finishes at the floor in this floral embellished, 3D texture throughout, creating quite a modern yet delicate gown. The top of the fabric cape is gathered for a secure fit, whilst finished with a tall hem and keeping the fullness.
Lais Ribeiro
When: 27th May 2022 - "Mother And Son (Un Petit Frere)" Red Carpet
During the penultimate day of the 75th Annual Cannes Film Festival, model Lais Ribeiro wore a bright yellow straight line bodice gown and accompanying fabric cape draped around her arms. The cape itself was designed with a gathered hem, quite tall but soft in finish with small pleats made to add dimension and texture. The gown was floor-length and styled with a wrap skirt, creating a split just off-centre and gathered at the waist underneath the fitted bodice. For a pop of colour, delicate embroidery was added and mirrored perfectly for that luxurious red carpet appearance.
Andie MacDowell
When: 28th May 2022 - Closing Ceremony Red Carpet
Actress Andie MacDowell kept it simple in green on the final red carpet at Cannes Film Festival 2022, wearing a floor-length gown with a high neckline. The bodice is split into two panels with a high waistline, similar to an Empire waist, before falling down into a subtle flared skirt at the bottom of the gown. The dress itself drapes and folds naturally, capturing the light and creating multiple shades to this monochromatic look.
Joanna Kulig
When: 28th May 2022 - Closing Ceremony Red Carpet
Joanna Kulig's two-piece suit was very chic for the finale of Cannes, as the actress paired the ensemble with a white shirt and a statement wide collar that lied flat over the suit jacket. The shoulders of the jacket were padded to create a straight line across the top, whilst the shawl collar was a contrasting satin finish with a subtle inverted curved edge. It was fastened with a single button with a double jet pocket situated either side, leading down into a straight centre front with a rounded point. The trousers are wide-legged and drape to the floor to cover her shoes, completing her modern evening look.
Maria Borges
When: 28th May 2022 - Closing Ceremony Red Carpet
Model Maria Borges stunned in red on the final day of the festival, wearing a shimmery red gown with a bubble skirt and corseted bodice. From the back of the bodice falls a dramatic matching red fabric train, again the shimmer making it a eye-catching piece whilst draping behind her substantially. The bodice is designed with a straight neckline finished with a embellished red trim, hinting at the bigger detail leading up from the hem of the skirt to create a delicate appearance to this structured dress.
