This year's seventy-sixth Primetime Emmy Awards took place on the 16th of September, 2024, at the Peacock Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. The Emmys celebrate excellence in television. Shogun took home four awards, as did Baby Reindeer. Hacks won Best Comedy, True Detective star Jodie Foster picked up the award for Outstanding Lead Actress, and Lamorne Morris won Best Supporting Actor for Fargo.
It feels like only two minutes since we were last writing about the star's red carpet style at the Emmys. And that's almost true. Due to the writer's and actor's strikes last year, the 2023 Emmys were delayed by several months, so there have only been nine months between the award ceremonies. However, that's all the better, as we can check out the star's red carpet styles without a long delay!
For men, red-carpet fashion is often much more understated than women's. That's why the daring outfits stand out so much in a sea of traditional black suits. Let's take a look at some of the men's traditional looks and some of the more outgoing choices.
Tyler James Williams
Abbott Elementary actor Tyler James Williams may have chosen traditional black, but the outfit was anything but conventional. He donned a sleeveless black waistcoat tailored to fit him snugly and featured a dress shirt-style front bib of pintucks in luxurious and contrasting velvet and a wingtip collar. He accessorised with a gold and silver Tiffany & Co brooch at his neck and gold and silver bracelets.
Dan Levy
Emmys host Dan Levy also chose a black suit but paired it with a white silk Loewe top with an unusual asymmetrical architectural wired stand-up collar.
Robert Downey Jr.
The Sympathizer actor Robert Downey Jr bucked the black trend in a sapphire blue double-breasted suit with a matching silk shirt and tie and an incredibly 70s silhouette. The trousers were flared from the knee, and the peak lapels were large and in charge. He continued the 70s theme with a pair of gold-rimmed aviator glasses.
Lionel Boyce
Star of The Bear Lionel Boyce kept his red carpet appearance more casual in a pair of loose-fitting black trousers, a white club collar shirt and pale pink tie, and a black puffy bomber-style jacket with gold hardware. He accessorised with a black baseball cap and complementary gold brooches on his collar and jacket front.
Richard Gadd
Baby Reindeer star Richard Gadd went all out for his red carpet stroll in a black tuxedo jacket, white shirt, black bow tie, and a blue, green, and orange tartan kilt. He finished the outfit with a black bumbag-cum-sporran.
