The Final Week of Venice Film Festival 2022: The Ladies' Style - A Hand Tailored Suit

The Final Week of Venice Film Festival 2022: The Ladies' Style

As the 2022 Venice Film Festival drew to a close last weekend (Saturday 10th September), we have been treated to a vast amount of glamour and statement tailoring from the attendees on the red carpets. From the final week of the festival, we've narrowed down some of our favourite attires from the ladies of the red carpets, including the closing ceremony on the final day.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge

Actress and screenwriter Phoebe Waller-Bridge looked sophisticated and chic in a two-piece cream suit, worn with a sheer glittery striped crew neck underneath to add that bit of sparkle. The jacket itself was designed with a powerful statement top line with padded shoulders, whilst the shoulderheads were rounded to add extra height and enhance the strong line. The notch lapels were crisp on this double-breasted cut, with the two flapped pockets angled and level with the large front buttons. The trousers sat on the waist with a noticeable height in the waistband, whilst the trouser cut itself was slightly flared and the hem draping on the floor to cover her shoes.

Actress Fumino Kimura shimmered in a pink and red tonal sequinned gown, designed in a checkerboard print with black sequinned cuffs and a V-neck on the front. The neckline is also outlined by a thick black sequinned band to mirror the tall cuffs on the sleeves, whilst the shoulders were padded to create a strong line across the shoulders. The gown followed the silhouette on the bodice before draping down in a column-style line to the floor, with the hem brushing the infamous Venice red carpet.

Leonie Hanne

Fashion blogger Leonie Hanne donned the famous Valentino pink on the red carpet in the style of a square neck gown with cut-out panels at the waist. The gown was designed with an extra long train incorporated into the skirt's design, draping behind her in a dramatic fashion with a tall hem to finish off that line. The cut-outs on the bodice were somewhat softened through the addition of matching pink bow ties inbetween, an example of combining sharp lines with subtle elegant details.

Rachel Brosnahan

Actress Rachel Brosnahan's evening gown had the theme of "red carpet" certainly within the look, as it featured heavy red beading across the top of the piece. Perhaps a 1920's or 30's evening gown vibe can be seen from her look, as the red beading was the top of a gradient of colours which gradually moved down towards a beige/light pink shade. This would complement the main beige pink colour of the cloth, with a thigh-high split involved on the one side of this halter neck gown with crossover straps on the back. Extra fabric of the dress would slightly drape behind, somewhat contrasting the embellished texture of the gown.

Pritika Swarup

Model and beauty entrepreneur Pritika Swarup looked sharp in an elegant, tailoring ensemble during day 7 of this year's Venice Film Festival. The outfit comprised of a pair of high-waisted cigarette trousers that finished above the ankle, the sharpness of the hem echoed through the accessories of the black court heels. The top was an off-shoulder train coat that included draped ruffle sleeves and a fitted bodice which would strengthen the style of the neckline further. With three silver bow ties on the front acting as the fastening, it would also be decorated in delicately detailed embroidery, symmetrical on both sides and finished with minimal jewels.

Jodie Turner-Smith

Attending one of the events that took place of the film festival was actress Jodie Turner-Smith, who stunned in a colourful A-line gown. The square neckline bodice itself was in the style of a classic stay/corset, with the boning channels prominent in this sunshine yellow. The structure was contrasted through the gathering at the waistband which would flare out into this voluminous ballgown skirt. The coloured panels were wide as the yellow from the bodice then turned into a coral red, vibrant magenta and soft olive green, of which the green draped behind for an extra long hem.

Ana de Armas

Actress Ana de Armas glistened in a soft pink gown that had a strong ethereal style to it through the intricate and vast pleating. The neckline was a plunging V-neck that finishes at the tied fabric belt across the waist, before further leading down into the long pleated skirt that draped down beautifully to the floor. The back was low-cut whilst also a large amount of extra pleated fabric featured on the back to create a graceful A-line silhouette to the gown also.

Didi Stone

Model Dide Stone was spotted on the ninth day of the Venice Film Festival 2022 looking glamorous in a monochrome thigh-high split gown with an off-shoulder neckline bodice. The bodice itself was gathered across the top, the sleeves and the hem to create this fullness that definitely enhanced the sparkle of the sequins in the cloth. This sparkly nature was then toned down through the crispness and plain design of the white fitted skirt that draped to the floor with a subtle mermaid hem at the bottom.

Liliana Fiorelli

Sporting a tailored ensemble also in the final week of the festival was actress Liliana Fiorelli, who wore a shimmery brown two-piece number. The jacket was designed with contrasting black details through the wide peak lapels, collar, buttons and pocket jets which were matched through the accessorising of the black strap heels. The jacket front was a two-button design with double jet pockets and strong padding in the shoulders, with the slightly relaxed cut to the body contrasted as well through the cropped, tapered trousers the actress wore.

Taylor Russell

For the closing ceremony of the film festival, actress Taylor Russell kept it simple yet graceful wearing a black straight neck floor-length gown. The bodice was portraying texture through the draping and folding that went into its construction, leading round to the low-cut back and its huge black bow tied behind. The bow ties would drape down behind also and simply blend effortlessly into the silhouette of the piece, with the front of the skirt cut into a fitted, column-like style to complete the look.

It was another successful Venice Film Festival that delivered a portfolio of glamour and style indeed amongst those who attended. Here are a few more looks from the final week that we also thought quite striking, which look from the whole event was your ultimate favourite?
