The 65th annual Grammy Awards took place on Sunday, the 5th of February, 2023, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Once again hosted by comedian Trevor Noah, the celebrities, both nominees and guests, flocked to the red carpet to show off their sumptuous evening attire. This year, the men eschewed the traditional black tuxedo in favour of more experimental styles. Here are a few of the looks that caught our eye.
Dwayne Johnson
Attending with his wife, Lauren Hashian, dressed in sparkling silver, actor Dwayne Johnson chose a gold satin loose-fitting suit with a matching low-necked vest that perfectly showed off his chest tattoo and coordinating black and white necklaces. The beautifully tailored jacket featured padded shoulders, peak lapels, and flap pockets. He finished the outfit with black loafers to complement his accessories.
Harry Styles
Singer and Album of the Year winner Harry opted for an even more eclectic outfit. Known for his sense of style on and off stage, Harry donned a custom bejewelled, diamond-patterned jumpsuit by Egonlab and Swarovski. The sleeveless jumpsuit showcased a low, square-cut front that showed his tattoo-covered chest and arms. The suit was slim-fitting in the body, flowing down to 70s-style enormously flared trousers. He accessorised with delicate gold necklaces, multiple rings, and white shoes.
Sam Smith
Sam Smith and Kim Petras' song "Unholy" blew up last year and earned them the Grammy for best pop duo/group performance. Smith appeared to have been inspired by the song's church crossed with burlesque vibes in their outfit. They wore a floor-length scarlet puffed coat with an oversized collar, which they paired with red latex gloves, a top hat with lace trim, and a jewel-encrusted cane.
Jack Harlow
Jack Harlow, the rapper and nominee for two Grammys, went the more traditional route in a double-breasted tan suit with natural shoulders, peak lapels and flap pockets. He paired it with a matching coloured shirt and tie and a cosy-looking chunky, v-neck jumper. He had undoubtedly dressed for potentially chilly February weather with his sweater and black leather gloves.
Pharrell Williams
Record producer and singer Pharrell arrived on the red carpet in a quilted, studded bootcut red tracksuit by Ernest W. Baker. He wore it with a black leather baseball cap, diamond and gold jewellery, and jewelled sunglasses, which sharply contrasted with the usual dapper suit chosen for such occasions!
