The 65th annual Grammy Awards took place on Sunday, the 5th of February, 2023, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Once again hosted by comedian Trevor Noah, the celebrities, both nominees and guests, flocked to the red carpet to show off their sumptuous evening attire. This year, as always, the women were dressed in a range of stunning gowns and more unusual pieces. Here are just a few of the outfits that caught our eye.
Taylor Swift
Singer/songwriter Taylor Swift's album Midnights broke many records in 2022, but the song that bagged her the Grammy for Best Music Video was not taken from that album. It just missed the window for Grammy's consideration. Maybe she'll clear the board next year. Regardless, Taylor seemed to draw inspiration for her outfit from her latest record in a bejewelled midnight blue crop top and matching floor-length skirt with an elaborate train. She donned a pair of oversized silver earrings with purple gems and her signature red lipstick.
Camila Cabello
Singer and nominee Camila Cabello wore a PatBO rosette gown. It looked like a two-piece set but was actually a dress with the delicate white pearl bra top attached to a floor-length black skirt with a daring thigh-high slit. She accessorised with matching pearl and diamond earrings and rings and finished the look with skyscraper-high barely-there black platform sandals.
Olivia Rodrigo
Olivia Rodrigo, known for the smash hit Drivers License, jumped on this season's sheer trend in a black Miu Miu 90s-style floor-length slip dress layered over matching lingerie. She paired the dress with a black manicure, a chunky black stone pendant necklace, a matching ring, and delicate silver earrings.
Cardi B
This year, rapper Cardi B presented an award and stunned the red carpet in a cobalt-coloured sculptural gown designed by Gaurav Gupta. The floor-length dress featured a swirling hip cutout and a breathtaking architectural sheer hood that appeared to defy gravity. She embellished the gown simply with diamond drop earrings and a three-finger diamond ring.
Lizzo
Lizzo won Record of the Year for the single "About Damn Time", and she definitely made a statement on the red carpet in Dolce & Gabbana. Her vibrant orange, pouffy, hooded, floor-length cape was adorned with faux flowers. Underneath, she donned a lighter tangerine orange corset dress, perfectly fitted to her body and lifted with silver accents on the corset. She wore a matching tangerine flower in her hair and a dramatic orange eye look.
