The Met Gala 2025: Celebrity Style: Women
Share
Monday night, May 5th 2025, was one of the world's biggest nights for fashion. Celebrities walk the famous blue carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York every year to celebrate the Costume Institute's latest exhibit. This year's exhibition is titled "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style", and the theme for the gala was "Tailored for You". The theme is the first one in over twenty years to focus on tailoring and suiting. A-list celebrities flocked to the event to show off their interpretation of the theme. We at A Hand Tailored Suit were obviously incredibly excited to see all of the gorgeous tailoring on the blue carpet, not just sported by the men this time, but showing off how amazing tailoring looks on women, too!
Zendaya
Actress Zendaya stunned in a gorgeous cream Louis Vuitton three-piece suit with a wide-brimmed hat and a pop of colour in her bright red manicure.
Sabrina Carpenter
Songstress Sabrina Carpenter also donned Louis Vuitton. She wore a burgundy pinstriped bodysuit, a matching form-fitting tailcoat, an inbuilt white collar and cuffs, and statement silver buttons. She completed the look with matching burgundy platform heels.
Lupita Nyong'o
Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o dressed in a gorgeous powder blue Chanel double-breasted, wide-legged suit with satin peak lapels and an attached gauzy cape. She rounded off the outfit with a matching coloured hat and diamond jewellery, including a sparkling starburst pin instead of a tie.
Doechii
Anxiety singer Doechii made her Met Gala debut in a Louis Vuitton tailcoat jacket, waistcoat, wide-legged shorts, a white shirt, and a burgundy silk bow at her neck that matched her socks and platform Mary Jane shoes. The look featured the most distinctive Louis Vuitton patterns: the LV monogram on the jacket and waistcoat, and the damier checkerboard on the shorts.
Rihanna
Singer Rihanna showed off her third pregnancy in a Marc Jacobs ensemble consisting of a charcoal bodysuit with a floating white collar, a burgundy and white polka dot silk cravat, a cropped black jacket with exaggerated shoulder pads, and a hip-skimming black pinstripe skirt made from a coat and using the arms as a giant bow at the back. She finished the outfit with a wide-brimmed hat tilted at a jaunty angle.
Jenna Ortega
Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega interpreted the theme in a novel way, donning a figure-hugging custom strapless Balmain gown made entirely from silver metal tailors' measuring sticks. She accessorised with a simple silver necklace and dainty stud earrings, and styled her hair in old Hollywood waves.
