The Olivier Awards 2023: Best Dressed Women of the Red Carpet - A Hand Tailored Suit

The Olivier Awards 2023: Best Dressed Women of the Red Carpet

The Olivier Awards, presented since 1976 as the Society of West End Theatre Awards but renamed in 1984 to honour the British actor Laurence Olivier, is an annual ceremony to recognise excellence in professional theatre in London. They are considered equivalent to Broadway's Tony Awards and France's Molière Award. This year, the awards were presented at the Royal Albert Hall on the 2nd of April, 2023. Three-time Olivier Award nominee Hannah Waddingham hosted the star-studded event. Celebrities flocked to the red carpet to show off their sartorial elegance. High-low gowns and pops of colour were the standard for the women at the occasion. Here are a few of the outfits that caught our eye.

Jodie Comer

Jodie Comer, known for portraying Villanelle in Killing Eve, picked up the Olivier Award for Best Actress in Prima Facie. She arrived on the red carpet in a stunning Alexander McQueen high-low poly-faille dress in a vivid scarlet. The dress featured a structured bodice and flowing skirt, complementing the flowing ruffle details along the front and off-the-shoulder neckline. She wore a simple updo, minimal makeup and no jewellery to allow the gown to shine. She finished off the outfit with matching coloured strappy high-heeled sandals.

Dita Von Teese

World-famous burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese brought some old Holywood glamour to the red carpet in a sparkling floor-length gown by Jenny Packham. The spaghetti-strap dress had a plunging neckline, a grey crystal beaded bodice, and a silver sequinned skirt. The dress was cinched at the waist with a matching beaded belt that perfectly accentuated Dita's hourglass figure.

Stage and television actress Sheila Atim arrived at the ceremony in a shin-length ruched two-tone jade green and black Robert Wun gown with a dramatically long neck train and criss-cross strap detailing in the back. She paired it with strappy diamante sandals and a glossy lip for extra glitz.

Janet McTeer, famous for her stage and big-screen performances, looked stunning in a strapless black dress that tapered down to her ankles and then flared out again, giving Morticia Addams vibes. She embraced the sheer trend with a seethrough cover-up edged in black feathers and accessorised with matching black drop earrings.
