The Oscars 2024, Celebrity Style: Women

The 96th Academy Awards (Oscars) took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, at 4 P.M. Pacific Time (11 P.M. UK time) on the 10th of March 2024. It was presented by Jimmy Kimmel and honoured films released in 2023. The movie Oppenheimer swept the board, collecting gongs for Best Picture, Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr), Best Director (Christopher Nolan), and Best Original Score (Ludwig Goransson). Other winners included Emma Stone for Best Actress in Poor Things, Da'Vine Joy Randolph for Best Supporting Actress in The Holdovers, Billie Eilish and Finneas for Best Original Song for "What Was I Made For?" in Barbie, and The Zone of Interest for Best International Feature Film.

Many elegant black gowns ruled this year's Oscars red carpet, though there were a few pops of colour here and there. Let's take a look at some of the celebrities' looks for the night.

Emma Stone

Emma Stone picked up her second Best Actress Oscar for the movie Poor Things last night. She donned a pale mint custom Louis Vuitton strapless peplum gown with a boned corset bodice, floor-length skirt, and trailing train. She accessorised with an opulent octagonal step-cut 30-carat sapphire necklace.

America Ferrera

America Ferrera was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Barbie. Although she didn't take home the crown, Ferrara looked stunning in a figure-hugging Barbie pink chainmail dress by Atelier Versace. She finished the outfit with jewellery by Pomellato.

Anya Taylor-Joy

Actress Anya Taylor-Joy rocked up to the red carpet in Dior haute couture. The gown was inspired by the Venus dress designed by Christian Dior in his Autumn/Winter collection of 1949-50. The stunning piece featured a nude corset top covered in silver metal thread, beads and feathers. However, the show-stopper was the layered scallop skirt, which was also decorated with corresponding beads, feathers, and silver embroidery. She complemented the gown with matching Tiffany & Co.'s Blue Book collection earrings, rings, a bracelet, and a necklace.

Sandra Huller

Best Actress nominee for Anatomy of a Fall, Sandra Huller, stood out among the sea of black gowns in her Schiaparelli Haute Couture dress. The black velvet gown had a gravity-defying v-shaped, pointed neckline decorated with a silver lock jewel at the centre. She finished the ensemble with a silver Cartier necklace that complemented the jewel detail of the dress.

Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie, who starred in Best Picture nominee Barbie, stepped away from her recent red carpet attire of various shades of pink to don a black dress by Versace. The fitted strapless dress was made of chainmail in a column style and featured beautiful and intricate draping at the hips. She finished the relatively simple look with vintage diamond and gold jewellery from Fred Leighton.
