After a delay due to the writers' and actors' strike, the 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were finally held on the 15th of January at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. The awards honoured last year's best television, with The Bear and Succession picking up six awards each and Beef grabbing five.
Here at A Hand Tailored Suit, we're always on the lookout for sartorial splendour at award shows and premiers. At previous ceremonies, male celebrities have pushed the boundaries of accepted red-carpet fashion, donning casual clothes and unconventional colours. At the Emmys, the evening was dominated by the classic black tux or formal suit. However, celebrities injected some individuality and fun with material choice, cut, embellishments, and jewellery. Let's take a look at some of the ones that stood out to us.
Reece Feldman
Not Okay actor Reece Feldman donned a Saint Laurent suit with an open jacket, matching trousers, and an unusual, trailing sheer cape. He finished the look with black dress shoes and black sunglasses.
Donald Glover
Comedian and creator of Atlanta, Donald Glover, chose a black velvet suit from Bode. The short jacket featured shawl lapels and flap pockets in contrasting satin, and it had a surprising closure in the form of gothic brocade. The pockets were embroidered with beautiful and colourful flowers. The flowers were echoed on the matching trouser pockets, drawing the whole ensemble together.
Tyler James Williams
One of the most stand-out suits of the evening was worn by Abbott Elementary actor Tyler James Williams. He strutted the carpet in a double-breasted Dolce and Gabbana suit constructed of leather.
Colman Domingo
Rustin actor Colman Domingo looked dapper in a custom Louis Vuitton suit with an elongated jacket that he embellished with elaborate jewellery, including a gold lapel brooch, a delicate pearl necklace, two pearl bracelets, and a diamond drop earring. The pearl jewellery perfectly matched his suit's buttons, and the necklace replaced the usual bow tie.
Tom Hiddleston
English actor Tom Hiddleston stood out for not wearing black. He chose a dark grey double-breasted suit from Givenchy. The jacket featured contrasting black satin shawl lapels. He styled the outfit with a traditional white button-down shirt and a snazzy silver tie.
