The Primetime Emmy Awards 2024: Women's Style - A Hand Tailored Suit

The Primetime Emmy Awards 2024: Women's Style

After a delay due to the writers' and actors' strike, the 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were finally held on the 15th of January at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. The awards honoured last year's best television, with The Bear and Succession picking up six awards each and Beef grabbing five.

For female celebrities on the red carpet, this award ceremony was all about bright colours and traditional dresses with a modern twist. Let's take a look at some of the ones that stood out to us.

Simona Tabasco

Simona Tabasco, nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for The White Lotus, wore a multicoloured Marni dress of 2D flowers arranged to look collage-like. The striking dress appeared stiff and structured with its fitted bodice and flaring bell-shaped skirt. She finished the look with bubblegum pink pointed-toe heels and delicate Cartier jewellery.

Aubrey Plaza

Aubrey Plaza, also an actress in The White Lotus, chose a butter-yellow Loewe column gown in a soft satin. The bodice was square, stiffened, architectural-looking, and pierced by an oversized sewing pin. She wore her silky brown hair in a half-updo and accessorised with hoop earrings.

Jenna Ortega

Wednesday star Jenna Ortega wore a strapless Dior gown with a 50s-style teacup silhouette and a caged skirt with visible boning. The semi-sheer dress had a pale pastel palette covered in delicate flower and foliage embroidery. She rounded out the look with diamond-encrusted rings, a bracelet, and a necklace.

Bella Ramsey

English actress Bella Ramsey attended as part of the Last of Us cast, which was nominated for a whopping twenty-four Emmys. She donned a forest green Prada pantsuit featuring short, notch lapels, flap pockets, and straight-cut slim-fitting trousers. She styled it with a plum-coloured shirt open at the collar to reveal a hot pink turtleneck.

Ayo Edebiri

Ayo Edebiri won Best Supporting Actress for The Bear. She sported a new take on the little black dress in a Louis Vuitton strapless leather tea-length gown that was 3-D moulded into a ballon-like shape in the skirt. She paired the unusual ensemble with black open-toed high-heel sandals and dainty diamond jewellery by Brilliant Earth.
