Trooping The Colour 2025: Royal Style
Share
Trooping the Colour, a yearly military parade, took place on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Trooping the Colour is an annual parade that takes place to celebrate the monarch's "official" birthday. The King, like many monarchs before him, has two birthdays: an official one in the summer and a private one on the date of his birth. This tradition dates back to 1748 when King George II combined the annual summer military march with his birthday celebrations despite being born in November. He reasoned that November is far too cold and wet for a parade, so the double birthday celebrations began. Elizabeth II also celebrated two birthdays, with her birth date being in April, another notoriously wet and dreary month. King Charles' birth date is in November, and so he has continued the tradition. Prince William was born in June, so the custom may end when he inherits the throne. Let's take a look at some of the Royal outfits from last weekend's celebrations.
King Charles III and Prince William, The Prince of Wales
King Charles III wore the Coldstream Guards uniform to the Trooping the Colour parade. The monarch wears the uniform of whichever Regiment's Colour is being trooped that year. He added a black armband as a sign of respect for the victims of the Air India plane crash on June 12.
Prince William, the Prince of Wales, wore the Full Ceremonial Guard Order of the Welsh Guards, also with a black armband.
Queen Camilla
Queen Camilla looked regal in a white silk crepe dress with silver embroidery and a matching white hat with an asymmetrical brim. She donned diamond and pearl earrings and a matching necklace, completing the outfit with the Grenadier Guards brooch —a piece set with diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds that features a crown over the Royal Cypher.
Princess Anne, The Princess Royal
The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, donned the Full Mounted Ceremonial uniform of the Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and First Dragoons). She carried the Gold Stick as Gold Stick-in-Waiting at this year's parade.
Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte
Prince George and Prince Louis looked sweet in matching navy blue suits, white shirts, and red ties. They expressed their individuality, with Prince Louis opting for a double-breasted jacket and Prince George a single-breasted one.
Princess Charlotte complimented her mother's outfit beautifully in a powder-blue dress with white piping and a white sash, a tiny bow at the neckline, and a small horseshoe brooch made of pearls.
Princess Catherine, The Princess of Wales
Princess Catherine looked beautiful in an aquamarine coat dress featuring a white stand-up collar, an asymmetrical white lapel, white cuffs, and white-piped, slanting jetted pockets. She finished the outfit with nude heels, a matching aqua floral hat, an Irish Guards Regiment Brooch, and Bahrain Pearl Drop earrings from Queen Elizabeth's jewellery collection.
Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh and Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh
The Duchess of Edinburgh wore an emerald green dress with a V neckline and pouffy, elbow-length sleeves. She styled it with a statement gold necklace, matching earrings, and a small, circular, emerald-green hat. Her dress and hat's colour matched the sash of the Duke's Scots Guards uniform.
