GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2021: Best-Dressed Ladies - A Hand Tailored Suit

GQ Men Of The Year Awards 2021: Best-Dressed Ladies

The GQ Men Of The Year Awards, in association with BOSS, kicked off its 24th annual event on Wednesday 1st September 2021 at the Tate Modern in London, hosted in the Turbine Hall. With all the guests and potential winners attending in person after the ceremony took place virtually in 2020, the awards honour some of the most notable names in the fashion, media, sport and culture and this year, also awarded those who were heroic during the pandemic. Of course, the red carpet was rolled out and at A Hand Tailored Suit, we have certainly kept on eye on some of the stylish guests who were there. Here are more of the best-dressed ladies who attended, starting with:

Artist Nettie Wakefield was pictured attending the event wearing a wine red two-piece suit, styled with a scooped neck black top underneath to match the black buttons on the jacket. It's a double-breasted cut, designed with wide notch lapels and only a two-button front for a chic finish. The hem is a straight cut also and the structured shoulders on the jacket create a lovely line to the suit's shape overall. The trousers are fitted to the knee and flare out for a subtle flared trousers style, a sophisticated feminine tailored piece with great sharpness.

Actress Maisie Williams was also in attendance wearing a black floor-length Alexander McQueen gown. The bottom of the evening gown features delicate vintage gold embroidery in floral motifs, leading a slight train to flow behind to enhance the natural drape of the cloth. The dress is fitted and with a soft V-neck on the top, the shoulder straps a flattering width and the sleeveless design rounding underneath the arms for a soft but also delicate finish on this haunting evening gown.

Singer/songwriter Mabel's outfit of the evening was a cream Fendi cropped fitted top and matching wide leg trousers with a elegant yet modern twist. The top itself is long sleeved with very tall cuffs that are split down the side to almost completely cover her hands. With the right shoulder dropped for an off-shoulder look and the left with a dropped shoulder seam, the right sleeve looks slightly longer out of the two. The centre of the top gives the illusion of being knotted together and almost creates a silk flower illusion to it. With a standard collar on the shirt, the trousers are high-waisted and secured with a matching belt and a rectangular cream buckle. Pleats are also included at the top of the trousers to provide extra shape to the wide leg trousers, allowing the fabric to flow and fold more natural and convey the silky texture of the outfit.

Vick Hope

TV and radio presenter Vick Hope dazzled in a Zeynep Kartal floor-length gown, belted across the waist with a matching chunky purple belt. The gown is designed with a flattering halter neck, scooping low underneath the arms, round and up to the top of the back. Above the belt in the centre is where the fabric folds and pleats into the centre, showing underneath the belt wider and more distinguished folds to add extra shape to the gown. The bottom of the gown is designed with a split which, as Vick Hope poses, gives the illusion of it being trousers and a jumpsuit. Lined in black, the shimmering dress is finished with a long train flowing from the back where it also includes folds below the belt for a strong finish.

Ramla Ali

Professional boxer Ramla Ali opted for a white BOSS suit with a loose white blouse, styled with a V-neck. The edge of the neckline and down the centre front of the blouse is edged in white for extra detail, whilst the two-piece suit is a double-breasted cut with straight leg trousers. The hem of the trousers are long, created with side trouser pockets and the centre crease for extra sharpness. The jacket is left open for an oversized vibe to the outfit as it includes four buttons on the front and notch lapels for a more casual approach. Double jet pockets sit just below the bottom buttons as the lapel point meets the top of the trousers, the jacket hem with a sharp point and the shoulders very relaxed for a relaxed tailored fit overall.

Camille Charriere

Fashion influencer Camille Charriere looked sharp at the GQ awards as her attire consisted of a sharp cropped waistcoat and high-waisted trousers. It's a minimal but sophisticated ensemble as the black waistcoat is edged in black satin around the V-neck, the arms and hem of the garment. It's a four-button fastening and designed with a notched hem, just brushing the gold buckle on the black belt. The trousers are a wide leg and a relaxed fit to contrast the tailored, fitted waistcoat. With trousers down the sides and the hem brushing the floor, the subtle pleats at the top of them allows for the extra shape to the garment.

Kathryn Newton

Actress Kathryn Newton's outfit brought the drama as she wore a black Valentino gown on the red carpet and at the ceremony. The dress is floor length with a long fabric train and sheer with many split sections flaring out from the waist. The natural folds of the chiffon enhance the gown's movement as she walks whilst underneath are black shorts. The gown features a low V-neck outlined by the chiffon as the sleeves and rest of the bodice is designed with black netting, flowing into a high neck. The netting is also included on the back as it is a low-cut square back for extra dramatic effect on the red carpet.

Nicola Adams

Former professional boxer Nicola Adams was also in attendance at the GQ awards wearing a beige and navy two-piece suit, styled with a plain white shirt fully fastened. The blazer is symmetrical with its colour-blocking of the beige and navy, the bottom of the beige shaped like an extra panel but lining up perfectly with the colour-blocking of the sleeves. It's a single-button fastening with curved notch lapels and structured shoulders to deliver more impact with this strong suit, finished with 3-button cuffs on the sleeves. The hem of the jacket is a sharp line, leading into the sharp centre creases of the matching navy trousers with the trouser hem sitting over the tops of the trainers to complete this modern and sleek tailored fit.
