The 2021 Venice International Film Festival is almost at a close for what has been another successful year, celebrating just over 90 films and many famous faces attending the premiere's. It was the 78th year of the prestigious event that has taken place between Wednesday 1st September and ends on Saturday 11th September 2021 which, during the 11-day festival, has seen many eye-catching red carpet looks. Let's look back at some of the most glamorous looks the ladies of the red carpet have worn:
Olivia Colman
When: 3rd September 2021 - "The Lost Daughter" Red Carpet
Actress Olivia Colman dazzled in a sparkling two-piece midnight blue velvet suit for this red carpet. Her jacket was a statement with the centre of the garment heavily embellished and embroidered in silver details to give an illusion almost of being a separate part of the attire. The collar is thin and rounded at the front for a softer finish, contrasting the tall shoulders of the jacket but not taking away from the lovely curved shoulder line. The jacket cuffs are finished in the same silver embellishment with a single button too, like the ones featured on the front. Her trousers are a cut in the straight leg style, the hem softly brushing her ankles for an elegant finish.
Victoria Magrath
When: 4th September 2021 - "Competencia Oficial" Red Carpet
Fashion and beauty blogger and influencer Victoria Magrath (also known as InTheFrow) also wore a glamorous Giorgio Armani ensemble to this year's Venice Film Festival. The outfit features a floor-length silver jewel-embellished coat with a black zip down the centre, the zip positioned on the waist to leave an open collar and split skirt look. A wide round collar sits at the top with the shoulders fitted nicely leading down into the long sleeves. Underneath the silver coat is a sheer light pink skirt with a subtle pattern on the bottom of the waistband. It sits high-waisted and higher than the hem of the coat, allowing the natural movements of the garment to flow beautifully for an elegant outfit.
Tiffany Haddish
When: 2nd September 2021 - "The Card Counter" Red Carpet
Actress Actress Tiffany Haddish brought vintage glamour to the 2021 red carpet as she wore a black and white Christian Siriano evening gown for the premiere. The strapless gown has a straight neckline on the bodice with sharp points to create a sharp look, curving underneath the arms for the same look on the back. The fitted bodice is finished at the bottom with large folded drapes gathered at the centre that creates extra shape as it flows down into the black skirt. Fitted to the knees, the skirt flares out to balance the top of the gown and with minimal accessorising, makes for an overall stunning ensemble.
Anya Taylor-Joy
When: 4th September 2021 - "Last Night In Soho" Red Carpet
An eye-catching outfit was certainly what actress Anya Taylor-Joy wore on the red carpet during the fourth day of the festival. The Dior ensemble was all pink, including her matching fascinator designed with veiling for a soft touch to the striking look. The dress has a 1950's vintage silhouette to it, with the scooped neckline including an extra wide V-line in the centre. The sleeves just sit on the edges of the shoulders, short in length and showing the fabric's natural folds. The waist is fitted and with the matching thin pink belt to enhance the fitted shape of the dress, it also includes a large pink bow folded downwards against the extra pink fabric draping down the side. This section is floor-length whilst the dress itself finishes not far above her ankles, creating such a delicate but lovely red carpet look.
Cynthia Erivo
When: 1st September 2021 - Opening Ceremony and "Madres Paralelas" Red Carpet
Actress and singer Cynthia Erivo started her red carpet moments at this year's festival with a shining silver number from Versace. The silver gown is made of a heavily embellished crystal mesh with a low V-shaped neckline and a thigh-high split down the side. The gown is floor-length and designed with crossover straps on the back for a great detail leading round to the crossover detail on the front. The bodice and skirt are separated with a thicker section of fabric in the middle on the waist, the skirt floating down to the floor and leaving an element of a train at the back, making for an overall strong and powerful gown.
Kate Hudson
When: 5th September 2021 - "Mona Lisa And The Blood Moon"
The red carpet brought a few red garment moments, with actress Kate Hudson's Valentino floor-length gown being one of them. The sheer red dress had an element of bohemian chic with the bishop sleeves and high neck featuring delicate floral lace embellishment. The same red floral lace falls from the neck down to the bottom of the gown, along with being used on the sleeve cuffs, hidden within the many layers of fabric in the skirt to create its subtle flared shape. With the lightweight nature of the fabric, the movement created on the red carpet is very elegant.
Sheila Vand
When: 2nd September 2021 - "The Hand Of God" Red Carpet
Actress Sheila Vand brought more vintage glamour to the red carpet during the film festival as she opted for a black velvet evening Mugler gown. As the gown is lined in white, it's a defining feature of the outfit thanks to the soft pleating in the skirt that falls longer at the back. Its symmetrical design is sharp, along with the edges of the neckline, sleeves and back of the gown, enhanced through the V-neck on the front. The sleeves are structured but soft through the choice of material and with its minimal styling, is such a chic piece.
Sharon Duncan-Brewster
When: 3rd September 2021 - "Dune" Red Carpet
Actress Sharon Duncan-Brewster glistened in an emerald green gown from Etro as she attended the film during the third day. The floor-length evening gown included a tailored bodice with ruching and a twisted fabric panel down the centre front, matching the detail sitting on the waist. The off-shoulder neckline leads round to a curved line on the back of the gown too as the skirt features a long train draping behind. The skirt is made of a few layers to create a flared yet subtle shape and with the natural folds of the fabric allowing for extra movement, this green gown is a beauty of a red carpet gem: subtle yet powerful and sophisticated.
