Critics' Choice Awards 2021: The Best Dressed Ladies - A Hand Tailored Suit

Critics' Choice Awards 2021: The Best Dressed Ladies

The Golden Globes Award Ceremony was certainly the glamour we all needed to see, and this month's Critics' Choice Awards - hosted on 7th March 2021 - didn't disappoint either. The ceremony was hosted virtually again from Santa Monica, California, with celebrities accepting awards from their homes and giving us a strong virtual red carpet. There were plenty of winners on the night and we at A Hand Tailored Suit are showing you some of our favourite looks from the event! Here are some of the the best dressed ladies from the 26th Critics' Choice Awards.

Amanda Seyfried

Actress Amanda Seyfried's outfit was very vintage Hollywood film glamour as she was up for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1930's based film, 'Mank' where she plays Marion Davies. Wearing designer Miu Miu on the night, Seyfried's attire was formed of black tailored smoking trousers with a satin waistband paired with a black tulle embellished top made of tulle. The crystals are scattered outwards from the dress shirt feature and glamorous black bow tie, a fitting silver-screen look that suited the actress ever so well.

Emma Corrin

For her role in the Netflix series 'The Crown', actress Emma Corrin was awarded Best Actress in a Drama Series on the night, and her Schiaparelli dress was certainly full of drama. The black velvet dress with a cut-out design in the middle and strong padded shoulders, was heavily embellished with pearl fish made with extra green and gold details to enhance the luxury finish. With the earrings to match, Emma Corrin's dramatic designer look delivered just that on the night.

Zendaya

As the actress was nominated for Best Actress for her role in the Netflix series, 'Malcolm & Marie,' Zendaya was a winner on the night, honoured with the SeeHer award - recognising a woman who personifies the values of the SeeHer movement as well as pushing boundaries and breaking stereotypes - and her first look on the night was jaw-dropping. This Valentino ensemble was formed of a bright orange scuba, organza and taffeta skirt worn with an ivory silk top. With a high waistband on the skirt which itself was full of shape and volume, the minimal styling of Zendaya's outfit was just simply stunning. Watch her stylist's video below to view the garment's movement:

 Cynthia Erivo

Nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in the TV series, 'The Outsider' actress Cynthia Erivo delivered in a beautiful Vera Wang Italian tulle split gown worn over a black silk skirt. The gown was designed with Juliette sleeves and embellished with black lace, the skirt underneath adding to the shape and length of the outfit. Floor-length with a strong silhouette, the colour palette was opposite to what Erivo wore to the Golden Globes a week before; yet the actress epitomised elegance and confidence both weeks without a doubt.

 Gillian Anderson

Her role in 'The Crown' earned Gillian Anderson the award of Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, looking very sophisticated in a Dior two-piece black tailored suit. The straight-leg trousers with the front centre creases were paired with a sleeveless jacket, designed with very wide satin lapels and slanted flapped pockets. The lapels have the appearance of a being an additional layer, a smart design to the perfectly tailored attire with a covered fastening that makes Gillian Anderson look ever so chic.

 Kaley Cuoco

Wearing a black three-piece tailored suit from Dolce & Gabbana on the night, actress Kaley Cuoco was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in the TV series, 'The Flight Attendant.' The suit was heavily embellished with jewels on the wide peak lapels of the jacket, with extra embellishment on the jacket, waistcoat and shirt. The shoulders are well structured as the trousers flare at the hem and also look sharp with the centre crease. The extra high waistband features fabric-covered buttons as the waistcoat's hem sits perfectly above and elongates Cuoco's figure to really create a strong impact on the night.

Angela Bassett

Dazzling in a two-piece black embellished suit from Alberta Ferretti, actress Angela Bassett was in virtual attendance as she presented one of the awards from her home. The single-breasted jacket was designed with contrast peak lapels that matched the satin collar and two flapped pockets disguised well within the crystal embellishment. The silhouette of the trousers are tapered to the knee before flaring out again at the hem, small factors which equate to a great tailored look for Angela Bassett at the Critics' Choice Awards.

Ashley Park

'Emily in Paris' actress Ashley Park made history on the night as she became the first ever Asian to be nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and how she marked the night in a stunning bright green Versace dress! The top of the dress was structured in a corset design as the skirt draped to the floor into a gorgeous train. The sides of the dress are manipulated to create extra volume and shape to the fitted top, allowing the dress to flow wonderfully from top to bottom: a ceremonious, monochrome outfit on a historic night for Ashley Park.
