Taye Diggs
Actor Taye Diggs was the event's host of the night, keeping his looks so sharp with not one but two suits, the first being a Giorgio Armani ensemble. The two-piece tuxedo attire consisting of sharp tailored black trousers and a white two-button tuxedo jacket was styled with a pleated dress shirt, designed with a standard collar for his wide black bow tie. The jacket itself has the classic features of a dinner jacket including a shawl collar, breast pocket and fabric buttons on the front and sleeve cuffs. As his shirt cuffs are on show slightly under the jacket sleeves, this suit attire is just a classic.
Moving onto his second suit of the night and Taye Diggs was again looking sharp in this Louis Vuitton black double-breasted number. Both suits were examples of sharp tailoring, but this suit has a more relaxed fit with a longer body in the jacket and slightly looser fit in the trousers whilst maintaining the centre creases. The jacket itself with wide peak lapels enhancing the shoulder line also features large flapped pockets and a double vent on the back. Wearing a double cuff white shirt with a wing collar and smaller velvet black tie, Taye Diggs definitely looked the part as he presented on the main stage of the night: and both suits are great as each other!
Paul Mescal
Nominated for his role in the TV series 'Normal People', actor Paul Mescal was in the running for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television as he looked class in a two-piece blue Prada suit. The actor's notch lapels, trouser waistband, and gabardine tie were contrasting black details in this sartorial look as a crisp white shirt was worn underneath to really allow the suit to stand out. The two-button single button jacket with standard flapped pockets was the perfect length for the actor as he simply smart in this classic suit.
John Boyega
Actor John Boyega was a winner on the night for his role in the TV series 'Small Axe', winning Best Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television and on the night, wore a white Louis Vuitton two-piece suit. The actor accessorised the ensemble with a Louis Vuitton monogrammed shawl styled across the body which broke up the monochromatic look on the night. Also wearing a white shirt underneath, the jacket tailored with structured shoulders, white buttons on the cuff's sleeves and peak lapels made for a flawless outfit for the winning actor on the night, one to remember.
Eli Goree
'One Night in Miami' star Eli Goree sported a stunning Etro monochromatic red suit on the night as the film was nominated for Best Picture. It was one of the stand-outs of the night as Goree's two-piece accessorised with a matching red roll neck knit and a silver lapel pin for extra definition. The jacket itself featured contrasting velvet peak lapels, velvet buttons on the fastening and overlapping buttons on the cuffs. With thin jet pockets and a strong shoulder line, the trousers looked very sharp with the centre creases in their fitted form. As the overall suit for Eli Goree was bold and strong, it was also a perfect example of using contrasting textures for a one-colour suit: a very sharp look indeed.
Dylan McDermott
Nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Made for Television for his role in the TV series 'Hollywood', actor Dylan McDermott sported a green Emporio Armani suit. The single-breasted dark green one-button velvet jacket featured contrasting black details in the peak lapels, jet pockets and accompanying pocket square. With the fitted black tailored trousers paired with a black roll neck also, the sheen of the green is enhanced. As the outfit also conveys a smart/casual element, it is a subtle evening look which the actor appeared very dapper in.
Daniel Levy
After his citrus/green suit combination worn at the Golden Globes a week prior, actor Daniel Levy sported a black Dior ensemble as he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in the TV series, 'Schitt's Creek'. The look was a latest from the Dior Homme A/W 2021 Menswear Runway, Paris in January this year, consisting of a black officer-style jacket with matching black trousers tucked into lace-up boots for the baggy effect. The white contrasting waistband matches the star-themed embellishments as the jacket front and shoulder epaulettes are also finished in white: a great look for the star himself.
Michael K. Williams
A winner at this year's awards for his role in the TV series 'Lovecraft Country', actor Michael K. Williams was awarded Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, looking ever so cool and casual in a two-piece brown Prince of Wales check suit with a closed collar orange printed shirt. The check designed in orange is brought out perfectly with the shirt pairing, as the double-breasted jacket itself is made with peak lapels and angled flapped packets. The trousers with their sharp centre creases have a slight fold above the ankle, a feature which is perfect for the actor's tall form and the overall suit which is tailored perfect to Williams' silhouette.
Steven Yeun
Actor Steven Yeun nominated for Best Actor for his role in the movie 'Minari' looked the part in a black two-piece, single-breasted Prada suit with a classic white shirt underneath and black tie to complete the look. On the jacket was notch lapels, flapped pockets, and four-button cuffs with accompanying black trousers tailored with a sharp centre crease. With the jacket left unfastened, the tie brings a pop of colour with a printed floral design on the centre, a beautiful detail to turn the actor's suit into a classic piece for the ceremony.
