The Closing Days of Cannes: Ladies of the Red Carpet

The Cannes Film Festival - Festival de Cannes - is one of the most prestigious and glamorous red carpet events in the year, seeing many famous faces turn up to attend the premieres of many films shown throughout the duration. Like the majority of red carpet events, it was cancelled last year due to the pandemic; but this year it really has come back with a bang with the fashion that has been worn so far. Between Tuesday 6th July and Saturday 17th July 2021, we've seen many celebrities take to the red carpet at the 74th Cannes Film Festival - there's simply so many to choose from! As the event drew to a close, we at A Hand Tailored Suit have chosen more of our favourite ladies' looks from the last days of the red carpet at Cannes.

Actress Maria Bakalova was one of the many celebrities who were in attendance at the amFAR Gala at this year's Cannes film festival and for the event, she wore a stunning black evening gown from Giorgio Armani. The floor-length velvet gown lightly brushes the floor for an effortless finish, whilst the embellished bodice covers the straps on the front down to the bottom of the V-neckline. The pink crystals add a subtle touch of glamour too to the evening dress for an overall elegant finish.

Actress Gemma Chan sparkled in a gold Oscar de la Renta dress for the premiere and closing ceremony of Cannes film festival. The dress is sleeveless with the floral motifs forming the outline around the arms, neck and hem of the dress. The floral patterns of the dress are embellished in gold sequins as the dress is cut shorter on the front to knee/mid thigh level with a longer train on the back of the gown for a glowing, golden finish.

Actress Rosamund Pike was also in attendance on the final day of the 74th Cannes Film Festival and for it, she wore a soft pleated red gown with a red pleated train running behind her. The monochromatic formal gown is formed of a bodice gathered down the centre front and ruffled out on the edges to provide soft structure, with the slight curve on the neckline almost forming a heart silhouette. The shoulders are outlined in the same ruffles as the back is left bare down to the top of the pleated skirt. The hem of the dress sits slightly above the floor to allow the front of her heels to be shown too, a stunning red carpet look.

Actress Regina King wore a black Schiaparelli evening gown for the gala, consisting of a ballgown skirt and a sleeveless bodice with the top finished in straight line. The bodice itself is embellished with many black beads to add a shimmer to the gown, whilst the skirt is gathered at the waist and flows out in a ballgown shape. Styled with the gown is a black and white stole which really elevates the vintage look for the evening event, as the fabric's properties creates natural folds on the back of the skirt within this minimal yet strong garment.

When: 16th July 2021 - "Les Intranquilles (The Restless)" Red Carpet

Model Cindy Bruna was spotted attending the premiere at Cannes Film Festival wearing a tailored check dress from AREA. The blazer dress falls down to a few inches above her ankles, allowing the straps of her heels to be fully on show and match the hint of silver styled throughout the ensemble. As the back has a long single vent with an extra pleat from the waist to allow for extra movement, the front of the garment features a small sweetheart neckline surrounded by the notch lapels. Featuring two pattern-matched flapped lapels, 3-button cuffs and padded shoulders, the silhouette has impact within the brown plaid check red carpet outfit.
