Grammys 2022: The Ladies' Red Carpet Attire

The Grammy Awards 2022 continued the award season and red carpet in more glamorous style as some of the most famous faces in the music industry attended for the 64th Annual Grammy Awards in Las Vegas. Occurring on Sunday 3rd April 2022, the iconic awards were handed out and we've selected some of our favourite looks from the ladies' red carpet attire.

Wearing a BOSS ensemble, singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile was nominated for a few Grammys at the 2022 awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year for her track "Right On Time". Her jacket was very much a statement piece, decorated with those wide contrasting black peak lapels that reach over the shoulder line for a distinctive, sharp finish. It's heavily embellished with blue, orange and silver gems throughout, forming two noticeable diamond shapes on the bottom half. The centre lines and hem are very sharp, enhancing the decoration even more as her flared trousers include matching embellished stripes down the sides. Her shirt is white with a wide collar and accessorised with a black bow tied in the centre.

Actress Claudia Sulewski attended the red carpet at the Grammys with her partner FINNEAS and on the red carpet, wore a muted blue (almost duck egg blue) two-piece suit with a double-breasted blazer. The silk ensemble from Gucci included six matching fabric buttons on the front and five smaller versions on the cuffs, whilst her wide peak lapels were designed with lapel buttonholes. The double jet pockets were placed very low on the jacket whilst the shoulders were broad and padded for a strong effect. Her trousers sat high on the waist, fastened with a button on the waistband and finished with a sharp centre crease down the front as the hem just brushed the floor.

Singer and actress Aida Cuevas attended the event wearing a beautiful floral floor-length gown from Victor y Jesse, as her album "Antología De La Musica Ranchera, Vol. 2" was nominated for Best Regional Mexican Music Album. The gown is made from gold tulle and decorated with colourful floral embroidery throughout. The waist is finished with a two-tone gold and purple sash which picks out such colours perfectly in the gown. The skirt flares out into a ballgown silhouette and the natural folds and drapes allow the individual flowers to be noticed even more, the same effect delivered through the ruffled neck and sleeve line. The ruffles on the shoulders deliver great texture and excitement in the gown, making it a stand-out piece on the red carpet.

Arlo Parks wore a custom Simon Rocha ensemble which consisted of a modern-cut jacket and shorts, styled with a white shirt underneath. Nominated for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album with her album "Collapsed in Sunbeams", the singer/songwriter's jacket included subtle peak lapels on the double-breasted jacket that was completed with six buttons on the front. The jet pockets were wide and placed on a diagonal in the middle, so as not to distract from the elegant ribbon tie fastening in the centre. The shoulders were dropped and the sleeves gathered at the seam, leading down into another ruched sleeve hem just below the elbow. The shorts are tailored with turn-up hems whilst the jacket hem is asymmetric, cut with a curved hem on the sides to expose the white shirt that featured a side split hem itself.

Elle King

Singer/songwriter Elle King rocked the red carpet in a matching red Christian Siriano suit as her song "Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home)", also written by Miranda Lambert, was nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. Wearing a matching wide-brimmed hat, her jacket was a double-breasted cut with four buttons on the front and large flapped pockets on the sides. The lapels were of the peak style and, just like the pocket flaps, were edged in a red satin for an extra subtle touch of glamour. The shoulders were slightly rounded as the sleeves fell into large flares, mirroring the flared hems on the trousers for a extravagant tailored moment.

Vocalist and music producer Arook Aftab was a winner on the night, taking home the Grammy award for Best Global Music Performance for her song, "Mohabbat", whilst also being nominated for Best New Artist. Her Grammys attire included a maxi-length Payal Khandwala purple coat, worn over a shimmery silver fringed shirt and black trousers. The silver sequined collar sat over the neckline of the purple coat, the centre line of the coat itself cut asymmetrically with a curved edge on one side and a straight line the other. Six matching fabric buttons were included on the front also, along with a high welt pocket on the chest and pockets on the side. Inside the coat is lined in a satin yellow/green to complement the purple, working very well when the coat flares out during movement.

Jean Baylor

Singer Jean Baylor was pictured at the 64th Grammy Awards with her husband Marcus Baylor who, together as The Baylor Project, were nominated for Best Jazz Vocal Album with "Generations". Her three-piece purple Ayasa Afi attire included a matching dark purple pair of trousers and corset bodice, styled with a lilac cropped jacket. The trousers were high-waisted with a tall ruched waistband, the natural folds in the trouser fabric contrasted by the structured bodice. It's also contrasted by the structure in her jacket, designed with broad and padded shoulders which lead down into fitted sleeves. The lapels are embellished with a shimmery purple braid which are placed symmetrical either side as it leads around the back of the jacket. The front is noticeably longer thanks to the high curved hem on the sides.

St. Vincent

Wearing a show-stopper Gucci gown, musician St. Vincent was a winner in the category of Best Alternative Music Album for her album, "Daddy's Home". The garment itself was all pink and designed with darker pink ruffled tulle cuffs and hem on the bottom of the gown. The gown was completely embroidered with sequins for that glamorous feel, finished with a subtle ruffled neckline and a cut-out section in the bodice, whilst the back of the gown draped down into a long train that really captured more of the spotlight on the red carpet. The use of the darker shade of pink really picks out the same colour that can be spotted within the shine of the sequins, creating a strong monochrome look.
