British Soap Awards 2022: The Stylish Ladies - A Hand Tailored Suit

British Soap Awards 2022: The Stylish Ladies

Saturday 11th June 2022 marked the return of the British Soap Awards to our TV screens, where some of the most recognisable faces in the industry attended at the Hackney Empire, London. Best Storyline, Scene of the Year, Best Newcomer and of course, Best British Soap are just a few of the awards handed out on the night; but before that, the red carpet is rolled out first and on the night, we spotted some cool attires. Here are some of our favourites from the ladies who attended.

TV presenter and professional dancer Janette Manrara looked very elegant indeed for the Soap Awards as she wore a satin/silk red floor-length dress, accessorising with an embellished small bag. The dress itself is a cross between an off-shoulder and V-neck design thanks to the double structured layer across the top. These curve round to the back and outwards in a defining way, almost creating the illusion of a shoulder cape is being worn. The bodice is fitted, as is the skirt which leads into a subtle fishtail design with an element of fabric train draping behind.

Actress and producer Laura Bayston opted for a tailored look on the night, wearing a black double-breasted suit with a straight-line purple top underneath. The blazer was finished with rounded peak lapels to make the look stronger on the eight-button front garment, fastened with just the one gold button to create a tall notched hem. Miniature versions of these buttons are also used for the six-button cuffs, whilst extra features include an angled welt pocket on the chest and two flapped pockets below the waist. The trousers are fitted to the knee before slowly flaring out on the hem for that bootcut finish. Actress Claire Willie also opted for a tailored outfit, wearing a two-piece single-breasted suit with notch lapels and straight-cut trousers.

Andrea Ali

Dazzling in purple and blue was actress Andrea Ali who wore a one-shoulder asymmetric gown with a thigh-high split on the one side. The blue and purple embellishments were added onto a white sparkly fabric, all of which was enhanced through the light blue and silver accessorising. A subtle element of ruching is seen on the waist on one side to create delicate draping across the centre, leading down into the straight skirt part of the garment, with the hem just brushing the floor for an effortless finish.

Eva O'Hara

Also in attendance to the awards was actress Eva O'Hara, whose outfit epitomised vintage glamour in a pine green full-length gown. The neckline was of a V-style which led down into a small vertical panel that would be surrounded by delicate pleating on the bodice. These gathered/pleated panels would meet at the waist point before continuing further round horizontally to the back. From the waist down, the skirt would naturally drape with soft pleats all the way down to the floor, as would the chiffon sleeves that were much longer at the back. The chiffon would drape on the arms with a shorter front to create an asymmetric hem, but creating a very graceful garment overall.

Amy Walsh

Actress Amy Walsh opted for a beige pink ensemble at the awards this year, the clever accessorising of the rose pink clutch picking out the pink undertone to the outfit. It consisted of a V-neck wrap top with subtle bishop sleeves that were decorated with matching fabric buttons on the sides and slightly gathered on the shoulders. The blouse was tucked into a pair of matching beige pink trousers that sat high on the waist and were styled with a long bow tie on the waist. The trouser legs were a straight leg cut, slightly wide in shape for a more relaxed feel to the outfit, before gently draping to the floor to completely cover the shoes.

Ashling O'Shea

Actress Ashling O'Shea kept it very cool and modern with her outfit for the event, wearing an oversized pinstripe blazer with a white crew neck shirt underneath. The jacket itself is constructed of two different sides, one more of a charcoal grey/navy blend and the other a soft powder blue which work well together as a contemporary piece. The shoulders drape down slightly past the natural shoulder point which in turn, makes the sleeves longer. The two-button front is fairly central but with a tall stance inbetween to mirror the length of the jacket, before falling down into a tall and rounded hem on the front. Matching black buttons are included on the cuffs and two single jet pockets are included halfway down between the two buttons either side.

Gurlaine Kaur Garcha

Continuing with a modern awards look was actress Gurlaine Kaur Garcha, who opted for a black velvet top similar in shape to a corset stay. The stitching would mirror that of a stay with the boning channels down the centre as matte black panelling would be situated either side, as well as bordering the bottom of the top. The tailored element of the attire is shown with the trousers, wearing a pair of ivory/beige with an element of bootcut to the hem and a centre crease evident down the front. The sit on the hips with a thin contrasting satin waistband, finished off with belt loops and pockets on the sides.

Vera Chok

Actress and writer Vera Chok stunned in bright pink on the red carpet at the British Soap Awards 2022 as her monochromatic look was most definitely enhanced through the ruffles and textures that went into it. The neckline featured a subtle wrap detail in the centre which would trail off into further layers on the bodice, manipulated and draped in different directions before being gathered into the waist. The sleeves were also layered with ruffles to create a delicate line across the top, before these are mirrored from the waist down to create a heavily ruffled skirt, consisting of many rows before slightly flaring out at the hem, draping on the floor.
