BAFTA TV Craft Awards: The Stylish Gentlemen - A Hand Tailored Suit

BAFTA TV Craft Awards: The Stylish Gentlemen

With the BAFTA TV Awards taking place in just over a week's time (Sunday 8th May 2022), this weekend was the chance to honour and award those at the 23rd Annual British Academy Television Craft Awards. Such categories the nominees are in vary from costume design, editing, sound and more. As the awards took place this Sunday (24th April) at The Brewery in London, the red carpet was rolled out and of course, we spotted some sharp looks from the gentlemen who attended.

Artist Fantasista Utamaro was part of the team who took home a BAFTA in the Titles & Graphic Identity category for the Tokyo 2020 coverage. His suit of choice was an artistic graphic print too. Wearing it in the form of a two-piece suit, the jacket was of a dinner jacket style, fastened with just the single button and designed with contrasting black double jet pockets. The welt pocket on the chest was the same too, details matching the thin notch lapels. The shoulders include a subtle rounded shape to them whilst the collar is a dark grey, helping to pick out the same tone in the print. The trousers are a straight cut with the hem just sitting on the ankle, as his white shirt was constructed with a classic collar behind his black bow tie.

Actor Omari Douglas attended the event looking cool in a two-piece black pinstripe suit, styled with a burgundy shirt underneath. The stripes themselves were situated close together, acting almost as a hidden detail from afar. The jacket itself has a high button placement and short peak lapels. The welt pocket on the chest is angled substantially whilst the flapped pockets near the bottom are kept on a straighter line. The shape of the jacket is quite relaxed in its cut, an element juxtaposed by the slim trousers the actor wears. The trouser hems fall to just on the shoe with a noticeable centre crease on the legs. The shirt is worn open collar as the loose fabric ties drape naturally down the centre.

Actor Sebastian Croft was also in attendance at the BAFTA TV Craft Awards, and looked dapper too in a double-breasted very dark blue tuxedo jacket. It was finished with a six-button front and contrasting thin double jet pockets situated just below the waist. Like the buttons too, the peak lapels were cut in a matte black cloth for that element of evening sophistication. The jacket cuffs were cropped to allow the white shirt cuffs to act as a statement detail and border to the dark blue, whilst his trousers were slim with the classic centre crease down the front for the smart finish. The shirt itself was fastened with black dress studs and the classic collar covered through his matching blue velvet bow tie.

Writer and actor Nathan Byron was part of the writing team nominated in the Writer: Comedy category for the show, "Bloods". For the event, he sported a cool and casual ensemble that was sky blue in colour and finalised with white details. The suit was a double-breasted cut with six white buttons on the front and peak lapels to match. With a slight angled welt pocket on the chest, two large patch pockets are situated at the bottom of the jacket, the subtle curved edges contrasting the sharp hem of the garment. The trousers are a straight cut, slightly relaxed in style too and finished with a subtle centre crease to continue the sharp lines. The hem sits over his boots with a break that enhances the casual attire on the red carpet.

Composer Daniel Pemberton donned a navy blue velvet dinner jacket on the red carpet for the annual event, worn with a pair of tapered black trousers to create a statement outfit. The jacket was finished with wide peak lapels that were designed with a border style around the edge, the same look that continued in this collar. A welt pocket sat on the chest as two large patch pockets featured at the bottom. The shoulders were padded and slightly rounded for extra structure as on the front, the garment was fastened with a single gold button, the same style of buttons included in a five-button arrangement on the cuffs. His shirt was plain white with a matching blue stitching on the buttons, before completing the look with a black bow tie.

Writer and actor Adjani Salmon was a winner on the night as he was honoured with the Emerging Talent: Fiction BAFTA for his series, "Dreaming Whilst Black". For the event and on the red carpet, he wore a bright green blazer, paired with straight velvet black trousers. The jacket itself was short on the body which enhances the bright green tone even more of the needle cord piece. It was fastened with three matching green buttons on the front, the same ones included in a four-button arrangement on the cuffs. The notch lapels were short in length, whilst the flapped pockets near the bottom were narrow in style too. The shoulders were padded yet slightly oversized, making for an extra statement detail in his attire.
