Singer Alicia Keys attended the awards and paid tribute to her 20-year anniversary of her album 'Songs In A Minor' as she wore an all-coral Valentino ensemble. Consisting of a coral crop top and high-waisted trousers, the singer also wore a dramatic and voluminous coat off the shoulders with an accompanying long train behind her. The trousers feature a front centre pleat to lead down into the sharp centre creases which help to define this look, as well as a matching coral belt draping down on the coat. Her second look of the night, and her on-stage attire, was a tailored two-piece from Balmain. The tie-dye look included a knee-length long blazer with flapped pockets either side, a single-button fastening, peak lapels and exaggerated padded shoulders. Both looks very different to one another, but Alicia Keys looked effortlessly great in both.
Singer Doja Cat was nominated for a few awards at this year's Billboards including Top New Artist, coming away with the award for Top R&B Female Artist as she attended the event wearing a black-and-white Balmain outfit. As the stripes were placed vertically on the trousers, they were finished with a black waistband and a long hem at the bottom, covering her shoes but emphasising the silhouette of the garment. With vertical stripes on the top too, the sleeves were lined in black as the shape completely contrasts the fitted trousers and overall, makes for a sharp, fashionable look. The sleeves and top include intricate pleats which help to create this modern silhouette and a very chic red carpet look for Doja Cat.
American author, television host and activist Padma Lakshmi was also in attendance at this year's Billboard Music Awards and for it, she dazzled in a two-piece suit by Christian Siriano. The jacket was fastened with a single button as the centre front fell into a sharp hem designed slightly lower on the front. Also on the jacket were two noticeable flapped pockets and lapels with padded shoulders. The jacket was fitted to the waist as the trousers were also fitted into a slight flared hem which was long enough to cover her shoes too. Embellished with loads of silver crystals, it lifts the all-white monochrome ensemble and was a very glamorous tailored look for Padma Lakshmi.
American musician Surf Mesa (also known as Powell Aguirre) was in attendance at the awards as he was nominated for two Billboards: Top Dance/Electronic Artist and Top Dance/Electronic Song with 'ily (i love you baby' featuring Emilee. The musician's suit was an all-black affair as he opted for a smart black form suit with the jacket including standard notch lapels and the classic welt/flapped pockets. The jacket included a two-button fastening as the musician chose to wear it open to leave his matching black shirt on show too, worn open-collar for a relaxed look. Worn with a black belt with a silver buckle, the trousers are fitted and tapered down to the ankle too, just brushing his polished black shoes and with the centre crease refining this sharp look. Surf Mesa dressed up for the awards but also shows how to make an all-black formal suit look that little bit more casual.
The famous trio attended the awards in Los Angeles wearing smart/casual attire and looked modern in them wearing Fendi, Prada and Amiri (from left to right). Nick Jonas was the event's host of the night and his green Fendi ensemble consisted of an oversized green jacket with a notch lapel and collar with a round edge to finish the detail. Shoulder epaulettes also feature as the singer's trousers and styled with a sharp centre crease, front trousers pockets and a hook-and-bar fastening. Joe's Prada outfit was very casual with tailored black trousers and a white bowling shirt with black trim around the front and collar. Worn with a black top underneath too, it conveyed a certain cool, retro style. Kevin's Amiri outfit included a navy blue bomber-style jacket with contrasting black collar, diagonal pockets and a sporty design resembling billiards. His trousers include a slit at the hem, allowing the front to lay over his white trainers in this way: a trio with individual styles but together, looked so cool.
Leslie Odom Jr.
Another celebrity in attendance to present one of the awards was actor and singer Leslie Odom Jr., whose attire really stood out as he wore a bright yellow corduroy Prada coat over a black button overshirt and sky blue roll neck, paired with sharp black trousers to finish. The subtle pairing of the two primary colours (blue and yellow) softens the impact of the coat, designed with three black buttons and wide notch lapels. The end of the lapels finish almost to the top of the actor's waist and works very well left open to ensure the styling of the rest of the outfit makes the yellow coat be the most noticeable. The texture of the corduroy is also bold and works well on its own, particularly with the lack of other tailoring features such as a top welt pocket. It's another bold and sharp look which Leslie Odom Jr. has worn currently throughout this year's award season.
American producer, actress and screenwriter Lena Waithe was another celebrity to present an award at this year's Billboards and she looked very sharp doing so in a two-piece double-breasted ensemble by Richfresh. The mint suit was designed with wide peak lapels which blend well into the jacket's body, including patch pockets for an extra casual element and wooden buttons - 6 on the front, 4 on the cuffs - for a softer finish. The trousers are tapered at the bottom with the hem just brushing her ankles and the classic centre crease for extra refinement and front trouser pockets. Waithe's dark green shirt was left untucked as it's slightly visible under the jacket hem, and with the top button fastened and the button-down collar, it was another dapper cool look at the awards.
Canadian rapper Drake was a winner at the event, taking home Artist of the Decade and Top Streaming Songs Artist, whilst also being nominated in other categories including Top Male Artist - and he looked very fresh in a light grey three-piece suit with a white shirt and black knitted tie. The jacket includes sharp notch lapels and a 2-button fastening, with three pockets at the bottom and the angled welt pocket at the top. The hem is curved with a double vent at the back and 5-button cuff formation on the sleeves. The single-breasted waistcoat is visible thanks to the high neck on the item, whilst the rapper's trousers are tapered through to the hem with a sharp centre crease really refining the tailored attire. In the lapel, Drake accessorised with a cream flower through the buttonhole, a subtle finishing touch to the tailored attire.
